Methylcobalamin 1mg Methylcobalamin 1mg

Source Naturals MethylCobalamin is a dietary supplement with 1 mg of methylcobalamin per tablet. Our cherry flavoured tablets are amenable to sublingual administration.

Vitamin B12 is an organic chemical compound containing cobalt as its central atom. There are several forms of the vitamin: cyanocobalamin, methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. It has a great influence on red blood cell production (erythropoiesis) and on the condition of the nervous system.

Methyl- and cyanocobalamin

The most popular on the market and, at the same time, a very cheap form of vitamin B12 is the coenzymatically inactive cyanocobalamin. Considering there are statistically quite common genetic defects that impede its metabolism to an active form, it is wiser to choose a biologically active form right away, and that is methylcobalamin.

When the methylated form is chosen, the organism is additionally provided with methyl groups, used in many biochemical reactions. Another benefit of choosing methylcobalamin is the fact that there is no toxic cyanide delivered in the supplement.

Homocysteine metabolism

Homocysteine is one the most important risk factor of developing atherosclerotic changes. When test results show that its level is elevated, it is worth to take an interest in vitamin B12, as it plays a significant role in homocysteine metabolism. Methylcobalamin works as a cofactor for the enzyme homocysteine methyltransferase, which recycles homocysteine into methionine, brings it back to the circulation and "takes a load of your heart", as it is a healthy heart that is the most important here.

The nervous system

In this area, the greatest benefits are caused by increased methionine, and then SAMe concentration in the system; they are quite active in the regeneration processes of the nervous system by regulating the production of, among other things, nucleotides, DNA and RNA.

B12 also participates in strengthening neurolemma in nerve fibres.

A low B12 level is connected with the occurrence of peripheral neuropathy, Alzheimer's disease, various types of dementia. Its deficiency can also lead to mania and psychosis.

The right concentration of vitamin B12 in the system allows maintaining effective memory, great concentration, a well-developed ability to absorb information and mental balance.

The mood

People with diagnosed depression have a lower concentration of vitamin B12 in the blood than healthy people. One can draw the conclusion that B12 has a significant effect on the mood. A probable cause of that fact is that the presence of methyl groups is required in the synthesis of neurotransmitters responsible for a good mood.

A well tested result of therapy with vitamin B12 is a decrease in the feeling of tiredness. Therefore, thanks to supplementation with the vitamin, it is possible to get an energy boost and have greater motivation to undertake everyday activities without the need for a nap.

Source Naturals MethylCobalamin is recommended for people with a tested deficiency of the vitamin, with megaloblastic anaemia, an elevated level of homocysteine and nervous system disorders. Supplementation is particularly beneficial for the elderly and for vegans, who are statistically quite prone to B12 deficiencies.

Methylcobalamin

Information

What is methylcobalamin?

Methylcobalamin is a biologically active form of vitamin B12. It is one of the two forms of this vitamin that may be used as cofactors in various reactions. It differs from popular cyanocobalamin in the presence of methyl group instead of cyanide, thanks to which it releases the organism from the need of neutralizing this harmful factor.

The methyl group from methylcobalamin may be transferred to homocysteine, thanks to which it comes back in the form of methionine in order to be further converted to SAMe, which is the main donor of methyl groups in our organism. These methyl groups may be then used in the processes of creatine production, in neurotransmitter metabolism and as DNA methylation, thanks to which we achieve proper energy level, better well-being and generally better condition of the organism. B12 is a coenzyme for three enzymes: isomerase, methyltransferase and dehalogenase.

Apart from the influence on the nervous system, the supply of vitamin B12 is also very important for the proper synthesis of red cells as well as hemoglobin and anemia prevention.

Methylcobalamin in mono-supplements and complex vitamin preparations may be found in the offer of muscle-zone.pl.
