Vibration training does not prevent loss of muscle mass

The use of modern training techniques is aimed at creating the most comfortable conditions for physical exercise, especially for lazy people who want to achieve results with the least possible own contribution. One of these types of ideas is the use of vibrational techniques that were designed to put the body in motion. However, it turns out that this is ineffective.

The study was carried out by the Deutsches Zentrum fuer Luft- und Raumfahrt and was published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology. Researchers placed young men aged 26 in a 2-week immobility on the bed. The subjects could not walk or even sit down, which caused a rapid loss of muscle mass of the lower limbs.

Some of the men performed vibration training 2 times a day for 5 minutes (20 Hz vibrations with an amplitude of 2-4 mm). Men also had fitted belts corresponding to 15% of their body weight and their legs were placed in a 30 degree bend.

The use of the vibrating machine did not stop the muscle mass loss of the quadriceps muscles. The vibrating mat also did not inhibit the loss of lean muscle mass. The muscles of the two-headed thighs in subjects using vibratory training have undergone more rapid atrophy!

The use of machines generating vibrations is an unhelpful training tool. Their use does not contribute to inhibiting muscular atrophy when the body is immobilized. We can achieve the benefits of training only by shrinking the muscles, not putting them in vibration.
