Carb Digest with Isogest Carb Digest with Isogest

Kirkman Carb Digest® with Isogest® is a unique combination of enzymes, which are needed for proper digestion of all kinds of carbohydrates and milk sugar (lactose). In the composition of the supplement there are: glucoamylase, diastase, invertase, amylase and lactase. The whole is complemented by Isogest® - a patented enzymatic compound with the activity of isomaltase.

The preparation is appropriate for people who have problems with digesting carbohydrates and milk products; they feel bad after eating them, suffer from gastric disorders (bloated stomach, stomachache) or other ailments (ravenous appetite, weakness caused by hypoglycemia, inability to concentrate, frequent yeast infections). Supplementation is also recommended to people using eliminative diets, such as SIBO, GAPS, SCD (specific carbohydrates diet) – it especially helps in case of minor deviations from a diet or eating ready-made meals, about which we are not sure that they exclude certain ingredients. Finally, it is an ideal option for people on high carb diet, which provides the organism with very large amounts of carbohydrates. In order to properly digest them, optimal amounts of digestive enzymes is necessary.

Character and meaning of carbohydrates in a diet
Carbohydrates are a large group of chemical compounds, which depending on the number of sugar entities contained in a single molecule are divided into: simple sugars, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Next to proteins and fats, they are the main nutrient. They play auxiliary, transport and building functions; constitute basic energy and nutritious material for the organism.

Complex carbohydrates, before they are utilized as the main „fuel” for the organism need to be digested. Contrary to other types of food, they are not digested in the stomach – the activity of enzymes starts in the oral cavity and the principal process of digestion of carbohydrates takes place in the small intestine and duodenum. It includes complicated biochemical reactions, as a result of which glycoside bonds combining simple sugar molecules are eliminated. These bonds are broken down by amylolytic enzymes. Insufficient production of amylolytic enzymes results in inhibiting the process of digestion. Consequently, the symptoms of carbohydrate intolerance may appear – stomachaches after meals (especially containing starch), bloated stomach, ravenous appetite, inability to concentrate, fatigue, sleepiness, yeast infections.

Carb Digest® with Isogest® combines all enzymes, which are required for the proper digestion of carbohydrates. In its composition there are:

Glucoamylase – it is produced in the pancreas and partially in the oral cavity. It is responsible for breaking glycoside bonds in polysaccharides. Thanks to this, glucose molecules are released from starch or maltose and the organism may quickly utilize them as energy source.

The effect of glucoamylase is conducive to subsiding such symptoms as bloated stomach, heaviness, loose stools. Clinical studies indicate that applying glucoamylase may also reduce the symptoms of food allergies.

Isogest® is currently the only compound on the market, which demonstrates the activity of isomaltase – an endogenous enzyme responsible for the breakdown of isomaltose and palatinose. Many producers of digestive enzyme blends available on the market skip the issues of the breakdown of these two compounds. People, who despite the supplementation of ready-made digestive enzymes still feel digestive discomfort should pay attention to the fact, whether their supplement includes Isogest® in its composition.

Scientists proved that inhibiting the digestion of isomaltose and palatinose is the cause of many intestinal disorders. Contrary to appearances an average human being consumes considerable amounts of these compounds – they are widely used in food industry, they are added to sugar-free drinks, confectionery, breadstuff, mustard, chewing gums etc. Palatinose is well-known by sportsmen – it was proven that in combination with physical effort, it is conducive to burning fatty tissue.

Diastase – enables quite fast conversion of starch to maltose. It supports the effect of other amylolytic enzymes, it may be quickly replaced by amylase and glucoamylase. It is very helpful in case of excessively low production of saliva and recommended to people who eat in rush. The first stage of carbohydrate digestion takes place in the oral cavity, therefore with limited saliva production or insufficient chewing of food, carbohydrates, which should be initially digested reach the stomach and intestines in practically unchanged form. With the sufficient amount of diastase, there is a chance that despite all, they will be effectively digested. Diastase is also used to alleviate the symptoms of reflux disease.

Lactase – allows to break down milk sugar (lactose) to simple and easily assimilable compounds, i.e. glucose and galactose. It is produced in the small intestine, while the period of its most intensive production takes place in infancy. Along with growing up and aging, endogenous synthesis of lactase decreases, therefore among many adults, the intake of milk and its products is related to the risk of gastrointestinal disorders.

Lactase reduces digestive discomfort caused by lactose intolerance and it additionally alleviates irritations in the digestive system and decreases the intensification of the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Invertase is and enzyme, which mainly aims at breaking O-glycoside bond, which connects the residues of glucose and fructose contained in the molecule of saccharose. It also has positive influence on the digestion of starch. This enzyme may be found in honey – researchers are of the opinion that to a large extent it is responsible for antibacterial and immunity-supporting properties of honey. It was also proven that invertase has large antioxidant potential.

Amylase is produced by salivary glands (salivary amylase) and pancreas (pancreatic amylase). It serves to digest starch, i.e. chemical “cutting” of its long and chained bonds, which bind glucose molecules. Short bonds are initially torn in the oral cavity under the insulin of salivary amylase and long and strong bonds (dextrin) undergo hydrolysis in duodenum, where pancreatic amylase works.

Summing up, Carb Digest® with Isogest®,  is a supplement, which should be of interest to people who suffer from the symptoms of carbohydrate and milk product intolerance. Paradoxically, it is also appropriate for people, who apply high carb diet, or who are adapting to HC diet. With large amounts of carbohydrates, especially complex carbohydrates, endogenous production of enzymes responsible for their proper digestion cannot be sufficient. It is then worth unburdening the organism by supporting it with proper mixtures of enzymes.

Lactase

Information

Lactase (a digestive enzyme) is involved in the digestion of milk sugar (lactose) and improving its digestibility, artificially derived from yeast. In the supplementation it is a component of a nutritional composition containing protein from milk (casein, whey), carbohydrates, meal replacements type of MRP and as an additive in the complexes of the amino acids, available at www.muscle-zone.pl
Dosage: No standards for consumption

Amylase

Information

Amylase (diastase), belong to the group of digestive enzymes (from the group of hydrolases) that catalyse the decomposition of polysaccharides (starch and glycogen) into simple sugars. They are found in saliva, pancreatic juice secreted into the small intestine continuing the digestion. In nature, found in malt, cereal grains. Included in the dietary supplement in combination with the components decomposing milk sugar (lactose), lipases (enzymes that catalyse the hydrolysis decomposition of an ester bond of fat) and proteases (enzymes that catalyse the decomposition of peptide bonds, and are involved in the digestion of protein). Products containing lipase are recommended for active people using high carbohydrate diet and eating hearty meals.
