Melatonin Sustain Melatonin Sustain

Jarrow Formulas Melatonin Sustain is a dietary supplement with melatonin in prolonged-release capsules. This means slow and gradual release of the active substance which mimics the natural circadian rhythm of melatonin. The formulation contains also vitamin B6 which  promotes melatonin metabolism.

Taking this supplement helps regulate the biorhythm which may be disrupted by, among others, stress, changing time zones and shift work.

Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxy tryptamine) is a hormone which regulates the biological clock and is synthesised in the pineal gland, i.e. pinealocytes. Tryptophan, its precursor, is used in a number of enzymatic processes for the synthesis of serotonin which leads to the formation of melatonin.

Melatonin is called the “sleep hormone”. Adequate levels of melatonin released at night are responsible for a good, restful sleep. Unfortunately, there are many factors which contribute to disturbing your sleep-wake cycle and suppressing melatonin production. In such case, it is recommended very often to supplement with melatonin.

Unfortunately, the popular, quick-release melatonin is eliminated quite fast from the body (its half-life is 40-50 min) and reaches the highest levels about 20 minutes after administration. One of the ways to maintain its desired levels for longer is to take prolonged-release melatonin. Such form facilitates cyclical, gradual release of melatonin, thereby enhacing its effectiveness even for a few hours.

Melatonin levels in the body vary during the day. The highest concentrations were observed at night and much lower during the day. What is more, the body’s synthesis of melatonin decreases with age, which is one of the main causes of sleep problems in the elderly.

Melatonin synthesis depends also on the length of night.  Melatonin secretion increases considerably in winter (when nights are longer) and decreases in summer (when nights are shorter). Significant changes in melatonin secretion during the circadian rhythm may cause its disorders. Because of that, it is recommended to consider its supplementation.

Sleep aid
The main task of melatonin is to regulate the biological clock. Melatonin shows soporific effects. As a result, it signals the body in the evening that it is time to sleep. Because of that, melatonin may be beneficial to individuals with insomnia or sleep disorders.

Melatonin does not only help fall asleep but also wake up. It promotes deep sleep and aids night-time recovery of the body.

Travel support
During translatlantic journeys, time zones change, which is often manifested by problems with maintaining regular sleep schedule and causes discomfort, a bad mood and fatigue. Melatonin supplementation helps reduce these symptoms and thus influences beneficially biorhythms. Melatonin regulates the sleep-wake cycle and helps adapt to a new time zone faster.

Aid to shift work
Nowadays, many individuals opt for shift work which leads often to sleep disorders and a dysregulated biological clock. This causes serious difficulties in falling asleep, even when we are very tired. Melatonin supplementation seems to be beneficial also in this case.

Support for the elderly
Melatonin synthesis in the elderly decreases dramatically with age. This is often manifested by problems with falling asleep or poor sleep quality. What is more, older individuals often spend most of their time in locked, dimly-lit rooms. This may cause a dysregulated circadian rhythm and consequently sleep disorders which may contribute significantly to deterioration in health. Because of that, melatonin supplementation seems to be an invaluable aid.

Antioxidant properties
Melatonin exerts also antioxidant properties, thereby helping neutralise excess free radicals. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit the activity of enzymes which are responsible for their synthesis. Melatonin may reduce effectively negative effects of, among others, hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide and also peroxyl radicals. Importantly, this hormone is effective against free radicals both in a hydrophilic and hydrophobic environment.

It is worth noting that it is much more potent than glutathione, and vitaminC and E. The advantage of melatonin over other antioxidants is that it crosses the blood-brain barrier and cell membranes much more easily.

Improved immunity
Studies show that melatonin stimulates the activity of thymic cells and increases the volume of the thymus. This gland of the lymphatic system is responsible for, among others, the production and differentiation of T lymphocytes. Natural melatonin production and thymus volume decrease with age which may be the cause of immunodeficiency.

To sum up, Jarrow Formulas Melatonin Sustain is a high-quality agent which aids in normalising biorhythms. The formulaton is recommended to individuals with sleep problems, the elderly, shift workers and persons who travel often to remote corners of the world. Other benefits are antioxidant and immunity-boosting effects and the content of vitamin B6 which improve melatonin metabolism.

Vitamin B6

Information

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, pyridoxamine) is soluble in the liquid. It participates in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. By reducing the amount of fat in the blood do not enable deposition of the body. It helps the absorption of magnesium and vitamin B12 (cobalamin). It works on the muscle antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory pain in the joints. It acts anti. It provides efficient operation of the brain. It increases energy increasing vigor of a man. The demand for vitamin B6 increases during pregnancy and breast-feeding infants. The natural product is: yeast, eggs, wheat germ, meat (liver), wheat bran, nuts, peanuts peanuts, soybeans. There is a hypothesis that can be synthesized by intestinal bacteria.
Deficiency of vitamin B6 causes abnormal metabolism of proteins, decrease in lymphocytes in the blood, causes a feeling of lethargy and fatigue intensifies.
Dosage: 1.5-2.5 mg daily (increased demand during pregnancy and lactation).

Pyridoxine hydrochloride

Information

What is pyridoxine hydrochloride?

Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a basic, the most commonly used form of vitamin B6 in supplements and fortified foods. It is a vitamin soluble in water. It converts to the active form of the vitamin - pyridoxal phosphate.

Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in many enzymatic reactions. It takes part in the production of many neurotransmitters, such as GABA, serotonin and catecholamines and it takes part in the metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates and lipids. It is an important factor for the process of the creation of red cells and hemoglobin and its deficit may be one of the factors causing anemia. This vitamin contributes to maintaining proper energy metabolism and is important for maintaining well-being and good psychological condition. Its presence supports the breakdown of pro-inflammatory homocysteine to cysteine and further metabolites, thanks to which it may decrease the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiological incidents.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride may be found in many vitamin B complexes and vitamin-mineral preparations available in the offer of muscle-zone.pl.

Melatonin

Information

Melatonin - resulting in the largest quantities in the pineal gland pinealocytes - indoleamine, naturally synthesized using N-acetylserotonin created previously with serotonin. Its characteristics manifested by interacting with melatonin receptors MT1, MT2 and MT3 and nuclear receptors. Affecting the operation of the biological clock, it regulates the processes occurring both in the diurnal, and long-term cycle, e.g. annually. It gives the body a signal to sleep. In preparing for the night's rest, system reduces the temperature of the body, lowers blood pressure, slows digestion and adjusts the rate of biochemical changes. Improves mood and attitude to life after a good night's sleep. It has a significant impact on the discharge of hormones of the hypothalamus, pituitary and gonads, particularly follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing (LH), this is reflected in the normalization of reproductive performance. By reducing the expression of ERa, inhibiting the association of estradiol ER-ERE for DNA, and reducing aromatase activity, shows an anti-estrogen action Optimizing growth hormone and cortisol levels, improves night renewal system, the growth of the desired structures and burning of excessive body fat.
