Now Foods Vitamin E Liquid is a dietary supplement with natural vitamin E as D-α tocopherol. Vitamin E belongs to a group of fat-soluble vitamins. It shows strong antioxidant properties. Vitamin E has been dissolved in organic extra virgin olive oil which increases its absorption. The product is an convenient, liquid form in a bottle with the dropper.
Vitamin E is a group of eight compounds with similar structure – tocopherols and tocotrienols. D-α tocopherol is the basic form of this vitamin which shows the greatest biological activity and best absorption by the human body due to the presence of α-tocopherol transfer proteins.
Vitamin E shows strong antioxidant activity. Vitamin E compounds can react with free radicals, including reactive oxygen species (ROS). Vitamin E is the strongest antioxidant among natural compounds which act in the lipid phase, namely cell membranes. It protects fragile polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes from oxidative damage, thereby preventing their dysfunction.
Vitamin E protects genetic material of cells. It prevents dangerous oxidation of nucleic bases in DNA and promotes the removal of damaged DNA. As a result, it protects against the formation and replication of abnormal genetic material, which is the mechanism of the development of, among others, cancer. Vitamin E compounds show the ability to control transcription factors and some enzymes, among others, kinases. Because of that, they may modulate gene expression.
Vitamin E stimulates the body’s immune mechanisms. Studies on Asians have shown that vitamin E supplementation promotes lymphocyte proliferation and strengthens the body’s antioxidant mechanisms. What is more, d-α tocopherol has been shown in in vitro studies to inhibit protein kinase C activity in monocytes and lymphocytes. Protein kinase C is involved in the regulation of signalling from receptors of proinflammatory cytokines.
Vitamin E supports a healthy cardiovascular system. It helps speed up the breakdown of LDL cholesterol, namely so-called bad cholesterol whose elevated levels promote the development of cardiovascular diseases. Vitamin E increases also HDL cholesterol levels, has anticoagulant properties and regulates heart rhythm. Owing to antioxidant activity, it reduces inflammation associated with coronary artery disease. According to studies, it may reduce considerably the risk of this disease.
Vitamin E is called “the vitamin of youth”. It slows down effectively ageing processes of the skin and allows you thus to maintain youthful and radiant appearance. Owing to its strong antioxidant activity and ability to penetrate the skin’s lipid barrier, vitamin E helps strengthen cell membranes, thereby preventing the loss of water. As a result, moisture and firmness of the skin are improved. What is more, vitamin E speeds up skin regeneration and wound healing. It may be helpful in skin conditions, among others, acne and seborrhoeic dermatitis.
Vitamin E helps improve male fertility. It protects the structure of sperm cells from oxidative stress which has a negative impact on the condition of these cells and leads to their damage. Studies have confirmed that the combination of vitamin E and selenium has a very positive effect on semen quality. It was observed in studies on animals that a major vitamin E deficiency caused infertility.
To sum up, Now Foods Vitamin E Liquid is a dietary supplement with a wide range of uses. It is recommended especially for vitamin E deficiencies and diet poor in vitamin E and to strengthen the body’s antioxidant protection, prevent diseases of affluence and improve the quality of the skin, hair and nails.
