  • Source of selenium in a highly absorbable form
  • Antioxidant effect
  • Healthy hair and nails
  • Immunity strengthening
  • Thyroid support

MZ-STORE Selenium is a dietary supplement containing selenium, whose presence in the daily diet is necessary for the proper functioning of the body. This product contains selenium in a well absorbable form of selenomethionine.

Selenium is a micronutrient that abundantly occurs in cereal products, and its particularly rich source are Brazil nuts. Selenium is part of numerous enzymes in the body, including glutathione peroxidase with antioxidant activity. Interestingly, in males, selenium is largely accumulated within the testicles, where it participates in the proper process of spermatogenesis.

Antioxidant effect
Selenium as a cofactor for glutathione peroxidase has strong antioxidant properties. Thus, it contributes to the protection of lipids of cell membranes and prevents mutations and damage to DNA by free radicals. Selenium supplementation is especially recommended for people exposed to constant oxidative stress related to alcohol consumption, smoking cigarettes or leading an intensive lifestyle.

Immunity strengthening
The antioxidant properties of selenium, as well as its effect on the induction of anti-inflammatory cytokines, contribute to immunity strengthening. Support for the functioning of the immune system seems particularly useful in the autumn and winter when the body is particularly vulnerable to various infections.

Thyroid support
Selenoproteins found abundantly in thyrocytes affect the redox balance within the cell, and also participate in the conversion of T4 to the metabolically active form of T3. There are also studies showing the effect of selenium on the reduction of anti-thyroid anti-TPO and anti-TG antibodies that play a role in the course of Hashimoto's disease.

Healthy hair and nails
Selenium exerts a positive effect not only on the health of the body but also on its attractive look. It is responsible for the good condition of hair and nails, providing them with mechanical strength and radiant shine.

To sum up, MZ-STORE Selenium is a dietary supplement that stabilizes selenium levels in the body. It is especially recommended for people with reduced immunity, as well as during frequent exposure to stress.

Selenium (element, chemical symbol Se, atomic no. 34, from chalcogenide, it is present in several allotropic forms). It is supplied the body with food in the form of seleno-amino acids (selenomethionine - gathering supplies, and selenocysteine – a component of glutathione peroxidase, deiodinase and seleno-proteins). Regulates the functioning of the thyroid gland. It affects the growth and development, including sexual development (by increasing production and sperm motility). It affects the flexibility of the tissue, removes some of the toxins from the body and destroys cancer cells and reduces the severity of menopause in women. Natural products containing selenium are seafood (sea fish, oysters, bladderwrack) and vegetable products (broccoli, onions, wheat germ, bran, tomatoes) and animal products (poultry, eggs). It is also included in the composition of vitamin-mineral and mineral supplements. Selenium supplementation is recommended as a dietary supplement of active people having diet poor in this element, and as a factor increasing the body's immunity.
Selenium deficiency increases the risk of developing cancer and heart disease. Symptoms of selenium deficiency are: cardiomyopathy, growth stoppage,
disorders of detoxification processes which may lead to damage to the kidneys and liver.
An excess of selenium can lead to selenosis (the disease, the symptoms are: loss of hair, nail cracks, lesions).
demand of selenium for pregnant women 65 mcg; nursing mothers 75 mcg; men 7 mcg.
