Now Foods Eve™ is a vitamin-mineral dietary supplement designed for women, enhanced with coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid and plant extracts i.a. from field horsetail. The product comprehensively supports female health. Soft capsules are well tolerated by the digestive tract and are easy to swallow. The product is available in two capacities, 90 and 180 capsules.

Vitamins A, C and E are antioxidants supporting the fight against oxidative stress caused by free radicals. This strengthens body system immunity, protects cardiovascular system and slows down the ageing process. Because of their influence on the condition of hair, skin and nails, the vitamins are called the "vitamins of youth".

Vitamin A is essential for the proper condition of epithelia, accelerates wound healing and participates in the synthesis of steroid hormones. Vitamin C, together with copper, is involved in the synthesis of collagen, the main protein of connective tissue, determining skin elasticity and tendon resistance to stretching. Vitamin E protects lipids from oxidation and skin from free radicals present in fat environment. It affects the proper functioning of the ovaries, and its deficiency can result in i.a. fatigue, deterioration of skin condition and increased susceptibility to infections.

B-vitamins are necessary for the proper functioning of the nervous system and energy metabolism. The proper supply of these vitamins is important for the female body system, because of their indirect influence on the regularity of menstrual cycle. By affecting the nervous system, B-vitamins support protection from cycle disorders caused by stress.

Biotin, as a component of carboxylases, participates in i.a. the synthesis of fatty acids and glucose metabolism as well as affects the health of thyroid gland. It supports the proper condition of hair, skin and nails. Biotin deficiencies may lead to premature hair graying, skin lesions (i.a. discoloration) and nail splitting.

Vitamin B6 is important for optimal secretion of prolactin, and together with vitamin B12 and folic acid, it affects the appropriate level of progesterone during the luteal phase of the cycle. The proper folic acid level results in an increased maturation of ova, which shows the significant impact of this compound on fertility. In studies assessing the content of nutrients in the diet of women with impaired fertility, the deficiencies of vitamin B12 and folic acid were one of the most frequent.

Inositol is a glucose derivative which, in form of inositol triphosphate (IP3) and with the participation of calcium ions, participates in the transmission of signals between cells, including insulin signals. It has been demonstrated that inositol may be helpful in the fight against insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and fertility disorders. Inositol supports improvement in glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity. The positive influence on carbohydrate metabolism is also supported by manganese.

Macro- and microelements complex supports complementing deficiencies of minerals, which play important biological functions and are necessary for health. Calcium is the most common mineral in the human body system. Together with magnesium and vitamin D, it is necessary for the maintenance of bone mass, dental health and the proper functioning of muscles as well as it reduces the risk of osteoporosis. Moreover, magnesium normalises heart functions, is necessary for hormonal balance and the proper functioning of the nervous system, which increases the body's resistance to stress.

Iodine and selenium are essential for the proper functioning of thyroid gland. In the body system, iodine is used for tyrosine iodination, or thyroid hormone synthesis. Selenium is a part of enzymes involved in the conversion of T4 to T3, and the optimal action of this element requires the proper level of iodine in the body system. The thyroid gland regulates metabolism, whose disorders affect rather women. Thyroid hormones interact with sex hormones, and both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism can negatively affect menstrual cycle.

Iron is a microelement frequently deficient in the diet of women. A female organism has also a higher demand for iron than men. Iron is part of haemoglobin; its deficiency results in reduced production of this important protein and leads to anaemia. Iron deficiency is particularly common in pregnant women, vegans and vegetarians.\

Zinc is a microelement with catalytic and regulatory functions. It participates in metabolism of nutrients, hormones and alcohol. Factors that could hinder the absorption of zinc include i.a. stress, pregnancy, vegan and vegetarian diet, slimming and use of some stimulants. Zinc is important for the proper functioning of the immune system, due to its role in inhibition of thymic atrophy. It is also suggested that zinc deficiency can affect development of depression. Moreover, zinc is essential for healthy skin, accelerates its regeneration and participates in collagen metabolism.

Field horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is a plant rich in natural silicon compounds that influence the elasticity of skin, mucous membranes and blood vessel walls. Studies in humans demonstrated the beneficial effect of the plant on reducing nail brittleness and improving the condition of hair and skin. Horsetail promotes wound healing and regeneration of acne-prone skin. Thanks to the content of flavonoids, horsetail shows also diuretic, anti-swelling and diastolic properties against the urinary tract.

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) and coenzyme Q10 are vitamin-like compounds with strong antioxidant properties. ALA regenerates antioxidant vitamins C and E, prolongs their action, directly neutralises free radicals and chelates some heavy metal ions. Moreover, it shows hypoglycaemic properties, which is helpful in the fight against insulin resistance. Coenzyme Q10 is essential for the optimal production of ATP in the mitochondria, which ensures the proper energy level. This is why CoQ10 deficiency may result in fatigue and a decline in energy.

Oenothera biennis oil is a source of valuable fatty acids from the group of omega-6 ‒ cis-linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), known as vitamin F. GLA is essential for the synthesis of prostaglandins reducing blood pressure and showing anti-thrombotic and hypoglycaemic properties. The oil can also alleviate the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

To sum it all up, Now Foods Eve™ is a complex product comprehensively supporting female health, balancing diet and complementing nutritional deficiencies. It is recommended as a part of preventive healthcare, especially in case of a diet deficient in vitamins and minerals, energy drops, increased stress, pre-menstrual syndrome, insulin resistance, PCOS, impaired immunity and deterioration of the condition of hair, skin and nails.
