Geranamine (DMAA, 1,3-Dimethylamylamine) is a chemical compound containing a small amount of geranamine oil, obtained from geranium (Pelargoniom odorantissimum), ornamental plants planted in gardens and pots. It is an amine aliphatic affecting the activity of neurotransmitters (including catecholamine), providing stimulation of the body, it is also thermogenic. It improves the exercise capacity (strength and durability), especially used with the addition of caffeine and intellectual ability (e.g. enhances concentration and memory). It should not be used before the age of 18.
DMAA is widely used in sports
in stimulant supplementation (creatine stacks, no-boosters), improving the exercise capacity and as a component of fat burners. Also available in the form of mono-preparation supplement. In 2009 The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) placed Geranamine on the list of banned substances (doping).
