Optimal Liposomal Active B12 with L-5-MTHF is a dietary supplement containing in its composition vitamin B12 in the form of methylcobalamin at the dose of 5000 mcg, L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate at the dose of 100 mcg and the complex of phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine at the dose of 200 mg in one portion.

The product contains active and the most bioavailable forms of cobalamin and folate, therefore it is especially recommended to people with methylation disorders, e.g. impaired gene MTHFR and to pregnant women. Additionally, in order to increase the supplement’s assimilability, the substances have been closed in the form of liposomes, which are characterized by high absorbability and perfectly complement nutritious deficiencies.

Vitamin B12  is an organic chemical compound soluble in water, containing the central atom in the form of cobalt. It is also called the “red vitamin”, due to its high blood-forming activity – it takes active part in the production of erythrocytes, therefore it is especially recommended in anemia. It is also recommended to vegans and vegetarians, as its highest amounts are found in meat and its preparations.

Cobalamin plays a considerable role in the proper functioning of the nervous system. It takes part in the synthesis of nucleotides and choline, which is the component of myelin sheath surrounding nerves. It also takes part in the processes of the synthesis of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for well-being and having antidepressant properties, as well as melatonin, high level of which in the evening guarantees long, efficient and deep sleep ensuring regeneration of the whole organism.

Moreover, it takes part in the transformations of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates to energy, which counteracts fatigue and adds vital powers. Proper concentration of vitamin B12 also influences proper brain work. It improves concentration, cognitive abilities, facilitates thinking processes and improves learning results.

Folate – in the active form of levomefolic acid – is an organic chemical compound also known as vitamin B9 or B11; it plays a very important function in the synthesis of DNA, the conversion of homocysteine to methionine and the synthesis of the most important neurotransmitters: serotonin and dopamine. Folate is especially essential for pregnant women, as its proper concentration in blood conditions proper development of the fetus, prevents the creation of birth defects of the nervous and urinal system of a newborn baby.

Along with cobalamin, it takes part in blood-forming processes, preventing anemia. It regulates the function of the digestive system, improving the work of the stomach, liver and bowels. It has been proven that its proper concentration prevents the creation of cervical cancer, stomach cancer and colorectal cancer.

By regulating the level of homocysteine, it influences the decreased risk of developing atherosclerosis, heart attack or neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Complex of phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine) – it is a group of chemical compounds classified to phospholipids, appearing mainly in the cerebral substance and myelin sheaths of nerve ends. They influence the synthesis of one of the most important neurotransmitters – acetylcholine, which is responsible for proper thinking processes and prevents neurodegenerative diseases. Moreover, they regulate lipid balance, lowering the level of vLDL and triglycerides, secure stomach mucosa from ulcers and have positive influence on the respiratory system.

What are liposomes?
Liposomes are very small fat cells built of double lipid layer. Lipid sheath is identical in structure to cell membrane – thanks to this it is perfectly absorbed by the organism, which enables direct permeation to the system, transporting and releasing a nutritious substance. It is believed that products containing liposomes in their composition are absorbed at the level of 90-95% and they become an alternative to recently popular intravenous infusions.

Supplements based on the liposomal formula are especially recommended to people who deal with problems with the digestive system. Impaired balance of intestinal microflora and villous atrophy disturbs the assimilation of nutritious substances, also those from supplements. Additionally, taking drugs, using alcohol or improper diet are not conducive to the good condition of the liver, which is responsible for the conversion of the substances provided in the supplements. Liposomes to a large extent circumvent this process, permeating directly to the bloodstream.

Methylation disorders
Methylation is a process taking place in each cell of our organism and consists in connecting methyl groups (-CH3) to nitrogen-based molecules.

It is responsible for a range of physiological reactions taking place in the human organism, e.g. it maintains proper tissue specification, is responsible for correct detoxification processes and removing heavy metals from the bloodstream, DNA and RNA synthesis, energy production (ATP), eliminating histamine, creating lymphocytes T and neurotransmitters: serotonin and dopamine.

There are many causes leading to various methylation disorders, primarily vitamin B12 and folate deficiency, diet rich in processed products, stress, bad condition of the bowels, which impairs the absorption of nutrients.

The most common example of methylation problems is impaired gene MTHFR, which is responsible for the transformation of amino acids and reactions with folate. In order to utilize it properly, it needs to get transformed to a bioavailable and active form, which poses many problems. When a person has a genetic defect in the form of MTHFR, many important processes are impaired, e.g. effective creation of proteins and neurotransmitters, antioxidant utilization, elimination of heavy metals or proper metabolism of hormones.

Improper transformations of folate and vitamin B12 result in the growth of the concentration of homocysteine in blood, an important marker related to complications of the cardiovascular system. High level of homocysteine leads to the increased risk of developing atherosclerosis, stroke, heart attack or neurodegenerative diseases.

Therefore, it is so important to take supplements in the active and bioavailable forms, which to a large extent circumvent the process of complicated transformations and may be utilized by the organism immediately.

Summing up, Optimal Liposomal Active B12 with L-5-MTHF is a professional product in a comfortable form of oil containing the most bioavailable forms of vitamin B12 and folate, especially recommended in methylation disorders, excessively high homocysteine concentration in blood and in large nutritious deficiencies caused by improper diet.

What is methylcobalamin?

Methylcobalamin is a biologically active form of vitamin B12. It is one of the two forms of this vitamin that may be used as cofactors in various reactions. It differs from popular cyanocobalamin in the presence of methyl group instead of cyanide, thanks to which it releases the organism from the need of neutralizing this harmful factor.

The methyl group from methylcobalamin may be transferred to homocysteine, thanks to which it comes back in the form of methionine in order to be further converted to SAMe, which is the main donor of methyl groups in our organism. These methyl groups may be then used in the processes of creatine production, in neurotransmitter metabolism and as DNA methylation, thanks to which we achieve proper energy level, better well-being and generally better condition of the organism. B12 is a coenzyme for three enzymes: isomerase, methyltransferase and dehalogenase.

Apart from the influence on the nervous system, the supply of vitamin B12 is also very important for the proper synthesis of red cells as well as hemoglobin and anemia prevention.

Methylcobalamin in mono-supplements and complex vitamin preparations may be found in the offer of

Phosphatidylcholine – a group of phospholipids whose molecule contains choline. It can be synthesised endogenously in the human body, is a building block of cell membranes and thus influences beneficially their functioning. Since it is found commonly in the body, phosphatidylcholine supplementation shows many health benefits.

This phospholipid has a beneficial impact on the functioning of liver tissues. It has hepatoprotective properties, consequently preventing damage to this organ caused by toxic agents, and helps treat its diseases. It reduces oxidative stress in the liver and has therefore a beneficial impact on the viability of hepatocytes.

Because of the presence of phosphatidylcholine molecules in cell membranes, whose efficiency is critical to maintaining normal neurotransmission, this compound is indicated to influence positively neuronal function. It is suggested that phosphatidylcholine may be effective especially in disorders associated with too low acetylcholine concentrations in the body.

It is also said to promote lipolysis. Such activity of this compound is observed only in topical administration. There are no reliable sources which describe that this phospholipid is capable of speeding up body fat loss in oral delivery.
