Now Foods Detox Support is a complex dietary supplement constituting a unique combination of vitamins, minerals, and plant extracts in their highly bioavailable forms. The preparation supports metabolism and cleansing processes in the organism. The product contains 90 vegan-friendly capsules.

Selenium is a microelement found in the enzyme glutathione peroxidase and many other selenium-dependent enzymes and proteins. It protects the organism from oxidative stress, determines proper thyroid hormone metabolism, and participates in the organism’s immune response. The organism’s demand for selenium grows in the case of increased exposure to heavy metals, such as mercury. That is because selenium has an inhibitory effect on their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.

Zinc, copper and manganese in their highly assimilable forms of amino acid chelates constitute coenzymes and enzyme activators that take part in many important biochemical transformations in the organism. Zinc and copper, as components of superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD-1), and manganese, a component of mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (MnSOD-2), are crucial for the process of enzymatic reactions determined by those enzymes. The enzymes found in the superoxide dismutase family are mainly responsible for neutralising harmful superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen. The optimal supply of zinc, copper and manganese helps, therefore, to increase the antioxidant protection in the organism.

Chlorella is a green alga and a rich source of micro- and macroelements and β-carotene, that is the precursor of antioxidant vitamin A. It helps the organism to remove toxins by binding and disposing of them. It contains the Chlorella growth factor (CGF), which stimulates regeneration in cells, thanks to which it exerts a positive effect on memory, the immune system, and the healthy appearance of skin. Chlorella also contains a highly antioxidant substance, that is β-glucan.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organic sulphur-containing compound. It supports detoxification processes in the organism. Sulphur affects cell membrane flexibility and permeability. It is an element of sulphur-containing amino acids, proteins, and enzymes, as well as reduces inflammation in the organism. By enhancing membrane flexibility, sulphur can support the disposal of harmful metabolites and exogenous substances. Moreover, sulphur participates in the synthesis of collagen and creatine, which determine optimal tissue regeneration, scar reduction, and fast growth of hair and nails.

Milk thistle extract (Silybum marianum) actively supports detoxification in the liver. Silymarin, one of the substances contained in the product, is a flavonoid compound with a complex of substances with hepatoprotective properties. It protects the liver from the activity of toxins, such as mycotoxins, found in death cap. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, detoxifying, and cholagogic properties. Silymarin is also used as an aid in the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and prevents cirrhosis.

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is an active antioxidant both in water and fatty environments. It has a positive effect on the functioning of the liver, that way increasing cysteine levels in the organism. Cysteine is a sulphur-containing amino acid needed for the production of glutathione, a factor that participates in the conjugation of xenobiotics, determining their neutralisation. Moreover, alpha-lipoic acid enhances cell sensitivity to insulin.

Powdered beetroot (Beta vulgaris) is rich in betaine (trimethylglycine, TMG), which participates in the reaction of homocysteine remethylation to methionine. Reducing homocysteine levels in the organism is incredibly important from the point of view of preventing diseases of affluence, that is cardiovascular system diseases and cancer.

Dandelion root extract (Taraxacum officinale) is a wealth of flavonoids, lutein, and terpenoids. Dandelion helps to remove liquids from the organism and stimulates the functioning of the kidneys, the liver, and the spleen. Lutein contained in the extract protects the eye from the negative effects of UV radiation.

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) contains isoflavones with oestrogenic activity, which is why it is mainly recommended for menopausal women. It affects metabolism and helps to stabilise the mood.

Oregon grape root (Berberis aquifolium) is rich in berberine, an isoquinoline alkaloid with anticancer properties, particularly efficient against liver cancer cells, as well as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. It can also prevent depression. Berberine reduces blood cholesterol levels in blood and stimulates thermogenesis.

To sum up, Now Foods Detox Support is a dietary supplement that supports the functioning of organs crucial for detoxification processes in a complex way. It is recommended particularly for people who lead intensive and stressful lives, smokers, alcohol drinkers, or for strengthening the organism and improving overall health.

Calories are the conventional name of the unit expressing the energy value of food, the demand and energy expenditure in human body, which in fact is 1 kilocalorie (1 kcal). 1 kilocalorie is the amount of thermal energy required to heat 1 g of water and 1 degree Celsius. The SI unit of thermal energy is 1 joule (1J), equal to approximately 4,185 kcal.
The energy value is determined by the chemical composition of the food product, by means of the so-called. physiological equivalents. Most often Atwater equivalent is used: ratio for protein 4 kcal / g, for carbohydrates 4kcal / g, and for fat - 9kcal / g.
The energy value carried out with the so-called. "Caloric bomb" is equivalent to the physical energy, amounting to 4.1 kcal per 1 g carbohydrate to 5.65 kcal per 1 g protein, 9.45 kcal per 1 g of fat.
Nutritional value, determines the suitability of a food product for realizing life functions of human, the higher it is - the higher bioavailability and lower quantity for consumption for obtaining the effects.

Zinc (chemical element from transition group 12) belongs to the trace elements, it helps maintain acid-base balance of the body, protein, energy, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. It provides bone metabolism and transport of oxygen. It protects the body against free radicals. Necessary for the proper operation of the senses of taste and smell. Positive impact on the process of insulin metabolism in the pancreas. It supports visual adaptation to the dark, has a significant influence on brain function. It is helpful in the treatment of infertility and mental illness.
Zinc deficiency leads to decreased immunity, and growth retardation. Zinc deficiency can occur in case of excessive consumption of simple sugars. In the case of hormonal therapy of women with irregular menstruation, the therapy should be associated with increased consumption of zinc. It can be found in food like: beans, eggs, carrots, beef and pork meat, milk, nuts, citrus fruits, seafood, rice, cottage cheese, lettuce.
Dosage: Daily 12-15 mg zinc. Exceeding the daily dose of 20 mg cause symptoms of poisoning of the body.

Selenium (element, chemical symbol Se, atomic no. 34, from chalcogenide, it is present in several allotropic forms). It is supplied the body with food in the form of seleno-amino acids (selenomethionine - gathering supplies, and selenocysteine – a component of glutathione peroxidase, deiodinase and seleno-proteins). Regulates the functioning of the thyroid gland. It affects the growth and development, including sexual development (by increasing production and sperm motility). It affects the flexibility of the tissue, removes some of the toxins from the body and destroys cancer cells and reduces the severity of menopause in women. Natural products containing selenium are seafood (sea fish, oysters, bladderwrack) and vegetable products (broccoli, onions, wheat germ, bran, tomatoes) and animal products (poultry, eggs). It is also included in the composition of vitamin-mineral and mineral supplements. Selenium supplementation is recommended as a dietary supplement of active people having diet poor in this element, and as a factor increasing the body's immunity.
Selenium deficiency increases the risk of developing cancer and heart disease. Symptoms of selenium deficiency are: cardiomyopathy, growth stoppage,
disorders of detoxification processes which may lead to damage to the kidneys and liver.
An excess of selenium can lead to selenosis (the disease, the symptoms are: loss of hair, nail cracks, lesions).
demand of selenium for pregnant women 65 mcg; nursing mothers 75 mcg; men 7 mcg.

Exogenous methionine is an amino acid containing sulphur in its composition. It provides multi metabolism, with the indispensable help of vitamin B6. Participates in the synthesis of phospholipids (e.g. Lecithin), carnitine responsible for transport in the body of long-chain fatty acids, burned in the mitochondria cells (organelles in cells with a separate kernel), along with cystine forms cysteine. It is in the body antioxidant function. Natural source of acquisition of methionine are high-protein foods of animal origin (eggs, meat, fish), vegetable (sesame seeds, grain products). Available in all protein and carbohydrate protein and amino acid supplements such EAA and contain so-called all-day amino acids, supporting the liver preparations and cosmetics supporting the growth and condition of hair, skin and nails.

Copper - trace mineral that facilitates the introduction of iron into hemoglobin, allowing the correct functioning of antioxidant processes. It is an important component of enzymes that affect the processes of aerobic metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism and in the formation of collagen. With proper diet, do not use supplements containing copper, as an overdose can cause insomnia, hair loss. It occurs in foods such as legumes, offal, plums, seafood. Copper compounds must be used in a responsible way, because many of them have toxic properties.
Dosing: A sufficient amount of copper provides proper diet.

Manganese, of which a natural source is chocolate, grain products with whole grain, nuts, legumes and dried cranberry, is a component of enzymes and their activator. It stimulates the properties and functionality of connective tissue and provides proper functioning of the brain. It affects the function of the pancreas, ensuring proper insulin metabolism and condition of the bone and joints. Magnesium deficiency contributes to serious disorders in synthesis of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin, reduction in insulin sensitivity of tissues, affects bone resorption. Manganese chelates are used in complexometry in chemical analysis and in medicine for the treatment of severe poisoning (antitoxin) by heavy metals, in sports supplementation, manganese impact on the functioning of the locomotor system is used. It is a component of the so-called regenerators of joints and a vitamin-mineralizing and mineralizing supplements.

Sodium is an important component of the intracellular fluids, and is a regulator of acid-base balance. Along with potassium affects the proper of growth and provides the proper functioning of muscles and nerves. The source of acquisition is table salt (NaCl) and bladderwrack, shellfish, bacon, beef, and of plant beets and carrots. People on salt-free diet should avoid, among others, spicy sauces and smoked meats and sausages.
Sodium deficiency is very rare, at heaving sweating after a long effort (e.g. in the marathon).
Excess sodium increases blood pressure (especially for the elderly), edema and increased thirst. Exceeding the daily dose of 14g a day can cause poisoning.

Chlorella (green algae) - a single-celled algae living in freshwater and in a humid environment, it contains many nutrients: sugar alcohols, phytosterols, carrageenan, carotenoids, minerals (magnesium, potassium and sodium), laminarin, terpenoids and vitamins (group B, C , E). It is an effective antioxidant. The active ingredients are antibacterial, immune, inflammatory and strengthening. Mineral salts (alginates) stimulate collagen synthesis and phytosterols participate in the production of elastin. It is used in cosmetic formulations and in the category of "health and beauty", it is a component of dietary supplements that affect the various body functions.

Bladderwrack (lat. Fucus vesiculosus) - sea algae containing 15% mineral salts containing trace amounts of iodine, bromine and sodium, polysaccharides and vitamin B. The active medicinal raw material is thallus algae (Fucus vesiculosus). Preparations of bladderwrack provides a better metabolism, have laxative properties. They are used especially in sets of micronutrients for the elderly and convalescents, they have anti-atherosclerotic effects. Iodine content allows the treatment of hypothyroidism, resulting of the lack of iodine.

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) - dimethyl sulfoxide derivative, wherein the sulphur content is as by creating structural bonds sylfhydrylowych stabilize the protein particles and ensuring the proper functioning of the tissue and its biological regeneration. MSM has anti-inflammatory activity (within the connective tissue, mucous membranes and digestive disorders). In the sports supplementation recommended for people with special physical activity and during convalescence after injuries. Also used in the prevention of treatment of diseases of old age. Available in multiple formulations, also containing chondroitin, hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, extracts of vegetable dyes (turmeric), extracts of ginger root, ascorbic acid and minerals to support the functioning of the locomotor system.
