Increased concentration of progesterone and other changes taking place in the organism in this special period may contribute to considerable restriction of assimilability of many nutrients and consequently – the need for them is increased.

Complex of vitamins
Vitamin D3
is essential for proper ossification of the skeleton of the developing fetus, influences regulation of calcium-phosphorus balance and is responsible for proper calcium absorption. Moreover, it takes part in the implantation and maintenance of the embryo and proper release of the placental hormones. Vitamin K2 plays an important role in the processes of homeostasis. Deficiency of vitamin K2 may be the cause of deficiency of coagulation factors, which consequently may lead to bleeding in the neonatal period and infancy.

Vitamins A, C and E help to maintain proper state of cellular balance by neutralization of the excess of free oxygen radicals, which may contribute to disorders at each stage of the reproduction process, contributing to the development of infertility. Moreover, vitamin A influences proper development of the fetus and counteracts infections of birth canal. Vitamin E counteracts damages of cell walls, increases immunity of erythrocytes to hemolysis and stabilizes cell membranes. Its deficiency may contribute to the increase of the risk of miscarriage, disorders of the development of the fetus and preeclampsia. Vitamin C conditions proper absorption of iron and influences proper growth of ovarian follicles as well as ovulation and luteal phase.

B-group vitamins influence health of the nervous system. They stabilize well-being and improve memory and concentration. Deficiency of vitamins from this group may be the cause of lower mood, neurosis and even depression. We will find in the preparation the following B-group vitamins: riboflavin (vitamin B2), thiamin (vitamin B1), niacin (vitamin B3), pyridoxin (vitamin B6), biotin (B7), pantothenic acid (B5) and also cobalamin (vitamin B12) in the form of methylcobalamin and adenosine cobalamin. The preparation also contains highly bioactive and assimilable methylated form of folate (5-MTHF) as well as its non-methylated form – folic acid.

B-group vitamins, mainly vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folates, support the processes of methylation and have the ability to decrease the level of homocysteine, thanks to which they are important in counteracting circulatory diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and also fertility disorders. Their deficiency may be the cause of ovulation disorders and problems with the implantation of embryos.

Supplementation with folates may prevent the occurrence of pregnancy disorders and the development of many birth defects in fetuses or new-born babies.

The complex of minerals
Calcium
influences proper metabolism of bones and teeth and is responsible for appropriate bone density in infants. Moreover, it takes part in normalization of blood pressure, thanks to which it may counteract the development of pregnancy-induced hypertension. Zinc is responsible for the proper functioning of the nervous and immune system of the fetus. It is essential in the process of embryo creation and counteracts defects of the skeleton and the central nervous system (CNS).

Magnesium conditions efficient work of the circulatory, nervous and skeletal systems and also plays a key role in growth processes. Proper supply of magnesium may counteract premature childbirth and eclampsia. Iodine is essential for the proper production of thyroid hormones, which play a key role i.a. in the appropriate development of the nervous system and brain functioning. Iodine deficiency may be the cause of birth defects and disorders of psychomotor development of a child (e.g. ADHD). Selenium takes part in the metabolism of thyroid hormones and influences appropriate immune response of the organism. Low concentration of selenium in blood serum may be related to the increased risk of idiopathic miscarriage, gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia. Copper takes part in the synthesis of red cells, strengthens immunity and supports the work of the nervous system. Manganese is a cofactor for many enzymes taking part in the production of nucleic acids, proteins and in the metabolism of fats, cholesterol, carbohydrate and sex hormones. Molybdenum supports the immune system. Chromium positively influences glucose metabolism and carbohydrate tolerance, therefore it may have special meaning in case of gestational diabetes. Boron maintains proper mineral, lipid and hormonal balance of the organism and also supports memory and concentration.

Moreover, in the composition of the preparation there are also:
Betaine anhydrous – supports methylation processes and reduces the excess of homocysteine, thanks to which it supports the circulatory system. Milk Thistle Extract, thanks to the content of silymarin, improves the work of the liver, decreases digestive ailments and facilitates detoxification of the organism. Lutein and zeaxanthin have strong antioxidant and photoprotective properties. They positively influence eyesight – they protect from dangerous UV radiation. Coenzyme Q10 increases energy production in the organism, reduces the feeling of fatigue and protects from reactive oxygen forms.

To sum up, Seeking Health, Optimal Prenatal Chewable is a dietary supplement which comprehensively helps to complement the level of the most important nutrients, not only during pregnancy, but also during its planning and breastfeeding.
