Seeking Health Bacillus Coagulans is a dietary supplement providing as many as 3 billion CFU (colony-forming units) of an identified probiotic bacteria strain Bacillus coagulans SNZ 1969TM per capsule. Probiotic bacteria exert multifaceted positive effects on the organism, especially the digestive system.

The word probiotic comes from Greek and means “for life”. The term refers to live bacteria isolated from the large intestine of a healthy organism that affect the microbiota in a good way and exert a number of beneficial effects on the functioning of the entire organism (both locally and systemically).

Probiotics have a stimulant effect on GALT and modulate the immune system by sealing the intestinal barrier. Moreover, probiotic strains have the ability to produce such substances as active immune system compounds, vitamins of the B complex and vitamin K, antioxidants, and medium-chained triglycerides (MCT), which exhibit antibacterial properties. The defined proper species are applied in the prevention and treatment of many diseases, especially those of the digestive system.

Randomised trials and their meta-analyses confirm the efficacy of probiotic strains in such ailments as diarrhoea of various origins (after antibiotic therapy, during or after hospitalisation, traveller’s diarrhoea), inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), H. pylori infections, or lactose intolerance.

Bacteria of the genus Bacillus are gram-positive rod-shaped aerobic, sometimes anaerobic bacteria. The genus contains many species because of their great genetic variety. They are particularly resistant to negative environmental conditions, thanks to which they are very common in nature.

All species of the genus Bacillus, including Bacillus coagulans, are able to form endospores, that is dormant forms of bacteria, a sort of a lifeboat. Endospores are hard and durable structures that let bacteria survive in difficult environmental conditions (low or high temperature and pH, lack of water and nutrients, or UV radiation). Despite dehydration and no biological activity, endospores remain alive, waiting for better conditions in which they will be able to develop and create vegetative forms.

Bacillus coagulans is a bacterial species able to move and produce lactic acid. Lactic acid inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria and, as a result, reduces their amount in the digestive system. Their ability to create endospores makes it a very durable species, resistant to the activity of acidic gastric juices. Thanks to that, Bacillus coagulans travels to the large intestine with no major losses, which gives it an edge over other probiotic strains.

Bacillus coagulans will prove perfect in a journey. A change of environment and food products, as well as various stress factors, have a negative effect on the intestinal bacterial flora. Bacterial balance disorders (dysbiosis) result in digestive problems, discomfort within the digestive system, diarrhoea, and intolerance to some products. Using probiotics on a trip reduces the risk of experiencing those symptoms and, apart from that, facilitates the digestion of local dishes.

Clinical trials have shown that the strain Bacillus coagulans SNZ 1969TM can be efficient in the treatment of acute diarrhoea. It can also be successfully applied in bacterial vaginal infections, reducing unpleasant symptoms of digestive system disorders and improving the condition of the bacterial flora. It is used as an aid for antibiotic therapy or alternative treatment.

To sum up, Seeking Health Bacillus Coagulans is a dietary supplement containing an amount of a defined bacterial strain sufficient for the desired activity. It has a beneficial effect on restoring bacterial microflora of the large intestine. It is recommended for travellers, those who suffer from digestive disorders, diarrhoeas of various origins, during and after antibiotic therapy, and for preventive purposes.
