In the last batches of Apollo's Hegemony products, another glue was used for lids under the caps. The glue is weaker than previously used, this is why the lid often stays inside the cap when unscrewing the bottle. This does not affect the quality of products because during storage the lid adheres to the bottle and protects its contents.
Apollo's Hegemony Biotin is a dietary supplement containing the highest content of biotin available on the market -- up to 100 mg in a capsule. Biotin is widely used mainly to improve the condition of the skin, hair, and nails. However, there are more and more scientific publications and clinical trials indicating also another use of this vitamin – at higher doses, biotin may affect the slowing of progression of multiple sclerosis and alleviation of disease symptoms.
Biotin, also called vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin with the functions of coenzymes. It participates in many important biochemical processes, primarily in a transfer and detachment of carboxylic groups. It is a coenzyme that is a part of the carboxylases, including pyruvate, acetyl-CoA, propionyl-CoA, and β-methyl-crotonyl-CoA. Biotin affects the proper metabolism of the body as well as glucose metabolism and participates in the synthesis of fatty acids responsible for the key physiological functions.
Large doses of biotin may affect the slowing of progressive multiple sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition that causes autoimmune damage to neuronal myelin sheaths and axonal breakdown (glial cells). Currently, due to the lack of an effective medicine for MS, new therapeutic alternatives are being intensively sought for. Scientific studies proved that high doses of biotin slow down the disease progression and improve the degree of disability in MS patients. Tolerance of biotin’s higher doses by the patients was good and no adverse reactions were reported.
Higher doses of biotin support optimal energy production in neurons and astrocytes. Biotin activates carboxylases, which, amongst others, in cells of the nervous system participate in the synthesis of key substrates and intermediates in the Krebs cycle such as acetyl-CoA, succinyl-CoA, and oxaloacetic acid. The Krebs cycle (tricarboxylic acids cycle (TCA)) is a series of biochemical reactions leading to the formation of energy compounds necessary for proper energy metabolism of the brain.
One of the hypotheses explaining the reasons for the formation of a progressive form of MS is insufficient energy production by nervous system cells. This phenomenon is referred to as "virtual hypoxia" and means the reduced production of energy compounds by the mitochondria in the Krebs cycle while increasing the energy demand for demyelinating axons. Therefore, it is believed that higher doses of biotin may help to increase energy production in nervous system cells, avoiding the occurrence of "virtual hypoxia".
Biotin activates the carboxylase involved in the formation of myelin sheaths, whose function is to protect and isolate the nerve fibers which are atrophied in the course of MS. Biotin is a coenzyme of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), an enzyme displaying an activity in brain tissue and playing an important role in the synthesis of myelin, malonyl-CoA and fatty acids. As an ACC activator, biotin can, therefore, be an element limiting the efficiency and speed of myelin synthesis processes. In addition, by affecting the Krebs cycle in oligodendrocytes, it promotes the increased production of citrate, necessary for the synthesis of lipids.
Some of the symptoms of biotin deficiency resemble MS symptoms. These include disorders of fats and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as disorders of protein synthesis. There may also be neurological disorders, muscle pain, tingling in limbs, increased cholesterol levels, and depression. In addition, due to the beneficial effects of biotin on the condition of the skin, hair, and nails, its deficiency may be manifested by hair loss, skin rashes, and inflammation.
Biotin affects the reduction of triglycerides and VLDL. Biotin may increase AMP-kinase (AMPK) activity, leading to, amongst other, inhibition of lipogenesis processes in adipocytes, triglycerides and cholesterol synthesis, while promoting fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake. The studies carried out on animals and humans confirmed the effect of biotin supplementation on the reduction of triglycerides and VLDL levels in the blood. Normalization of the lipid profile is extremely important for cardiovascular health and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis.
In conclusion, Apollo's Hegemony Biotin is an innovative dietary supplement containing a large portion of biotin in a capsule. The preparation allows to supplement the great deficiencies of this vitamin and is aimed primarily at people suffering from neurological disorders, including multiple sclerosis, as an adjunct therapy after consulting a doctor to relieve symptoms and slow down the progression of the disease.
In studies evaluating the effect of biotin supplementation on the reduction of MS symptoms, the subjects received doses of 100-300 mg. Therefore it is recommended to start the supplementation 1 capsule and, if necessary, increase to 3 capsules a day.
The preparation should not be taken with a meal containing raw egg whites, due to the content of avidin – a protein that has a high affinity for biotin, preventing its absorption by the body.
In small amounts, biotin can be synthesized by intestinal bacteria. However, in the case of antibiotic therapy, the composition of the intestinal flora is changed and there may be a decrease in the production of biotin, leading to a deficiency.

Biotin (vitamin H, co-enzyme R) is in a group of B vitamins, due to the presence of sulphur compounds it is involved in the synthesis of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Also synthesized in the intestines. It enhances the production of hormones and regulates cholesterol levels. It reduces muscle pain. It prevents hair loss and graying of hair. It soothes the skin inflammations. No toxic effects. Often combined with other B group vitamins and vitamin A. The natural sources of biotin are: whole grain bread, yeast, eggs (yolk), milk, brown rice and cheese.
