Hepatica Bio Acerola is a dietary supplement which contains an acerola cherry extract (Malpighia glabra L.) from organic farming. The product contains only natural vitamin C (does not contain synthetic form).
Acerola cherries (Malpighia glabra L.) come from the Canary Islands, but grow also in Central America and in the areas of the Amazon River. This fruit is characterized by a high content of carotenoids and polyphenols. In its juice there are 17 different carotenoids, with the overwhelming amount of β-carotene. Depending on cultivation of plant, the presence of different anthocyanins was observed. Antioxidant activity of acerola juice is among the best of all sources of antioxidants.
Acerola belongs to the fruits that are the richest in vitamin C and it is estimated that 100 g of the fruit contains 1,000 to 4,500 mg of this compound. This is the most valuable component of this fruit, and the literature suggests that acerola contains 90 times more ascorbic acid than oranges.
Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen in order to ensure the proper functioning of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth. Moreover, it supports the proper functioning of the nervous and immune systems and contributes to the maintenance of proper energy metabolism. It is also an important element in protecting cells against oxidative stress.
