Now Foods Chaste Berry Vitex Extract is a dietary supplement containing standardized extracts of Vitex and Chinese angelica. The natural active substances contained in the extracts help to restore the balance of a female endocrine system. The package contains 90 plant-based capsules. The preparation is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Vitex (Vitex agnus castus) is an evergreen shrub belonging to the Verbenaceae family. The medicinal raw material is fruits of the plant, which are rich in numerous active compounds. They contain, above all, flavonoids – casticin and methoxyluteolin, which belong to the iridoid glycosides, agnuside, agnucastosides and aucubin, which display dopaminergic activity, diterpene compounds, and ecdysones – steroid compounds, which interact with human opioid receptors.
Vitex is helpful in disorders of hormonal disorders and irregular menstruation. The active compounds contained in the fruits of the plant interact with some of the estrogen receptors and display dopaminergic activity via the dopamine D2 receptor in the pituitary and hypothalamus. Dopamine is an inhibiting factor for the release of prolactin, whose increased level (hyperprolactinemia) is a very common cause of menstrual cycle disorder and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
At the same time, the plant has regulatory properties of the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) – it inhibits FSH and increases the production of LH. In clinical trials involving Vitex, it was shown that over 60% of the surveyed women the menstrual cycle normalized and the bleeding occurring between periods.
Vitex agnus castus supports a therapy of certain types of infertility. It is a safe and natural plant-based agent aiding fertility. Vitex effectively increases the chance of curing infertility associated with deficient activity of the corpus luteum and hyperprolactinemia.
Vitex agnus castus may also be used by men. Although its fruit is much more often used in females in hormonal disorders, the raw material is also helpful in case of hormonal imbalance in men. It was shown that Vitex caused reduction of FSH level and increased secretion of ICSH (interstitial-cell-stimulating hormone), which may be helpful in ejaculation disorders, easing of andropause signs and juvenile acne.
Chinese angelica (Angelica sinensis) is an Asian plant from Apiacea family with adaptogenic properties. Due to its properties, Angelica is often referred to as "female ginseng". The root of the angelica contains phytoestrogens that support the regulation of the female hormonal balance, including alleviation of PMS signs. In addition, the plant exhibits a multidirectional, positive effect on the body. It has analgesic, neuroprotective properties with a beneficial effect on cholinergic neurotransmission and it alleviates digestive disorders by stimulating the release of digestive enzymes and gastric juice.
In summary, Now Foods Chaste Berry Vitex Extract is a high-quality dietary supplement, recommended especially as an aid in hormonal disorders in women, manifested by menstrual disorders (including secondary menstrual absence), premenstrual syndrome, body swelling (especially legs), mood disorders and nervous tension.
In some clinical trials assessing the influence of Vitex’s extracts on hormonal disorders in women, administration of extract was accompanied by B6. The Vitamin actively participates in estrogen metabolism. This is why it is worth adding Vitamin B6 to Vitex supplementation.

BuyAngelica sinensis (Dong Quai) is a plant, the root of which has been used for thousands of yeas in Traditional Chinese Medicine, providing benefits mainly to women - it reduces discomfort accompanying menstruation and menopause. For this reason, this plant is sometimes called a “female ginseng”.
Coumarin is responsible for the majority of health properties of the plant, which influences i.a. widening blood vessels (increasing blood supply of uterus and other organs) and the functioning of the nervous system (it calms down, decreases depression symptoms and mood fluctuations). Additionally, we may find in the plant such substances as phytoestrogens, beta-sitosterol or ferulic acid.
Dong Quai optimizes hormonal balance, counteracts osteoporosis, helps to regulate menstrual cycles, alleviates the symptoms of menopause and PMS, improves libido. It was also proven that it has antioxidant properties and strengthens immunity. It may also work well in case of hypertension, constipations, psoriasis, allergy attacks and anemia.
Supplementation with Dong Quai is especially recommended to women, providing relief in case of female ailments.
