Description
  • High zinc bioavailability thanks to TRAACS® technology
  • High dose of zinc per capsule
  • Immune support
  • Antioxidant activity

Thorne Zinc Bisglycinate is a highly bioavailable amino acid zinc chelate, marked with the trademark TRAACS®. Zinc is an extremely important mineral for the functioning of the body, involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions.

Highly bioavailable source of zinc
The supplement was created in collaboration with Albion® Human Nutrition, a company which is the leader in the production of highly bioavailable amino acid chelated minerals. TRAACS® amino acid chelates are obtained by modern methods of binding minerals with two amino acid molecules with low molecular weight. Such compound is resistant to the acidic or alkaline environment of the digestive system, which facilitates the absorption of minerals in the small intestine.

Role of zinc in the body
Zinc is a trace element in the body, but it has many functions and is responsible for the normal functioning of the whole organism.

The element regulates immune function and stimulates the activity of neutrophils and NK cells. Its deficiency inhibits the growth and functioning of T- and B-lymphocytes that are responsible for the adaptive immune response. Zinc intake may reduce the risk of infections and colds and speed up recovery.

Zinc has also antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its supplementation may reduce the levels of inflammatory markers, such as CRP and interleukin 6. The element takes part in the formation of copper-zinc superoxide dismutase which helps remove reactive oxygen species from the body.

In addition, it supports cognitive functions because it is involved in the transmission of impulses between neurons and modulation of synaptic activity. The supplementation may boost the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) which promotes the development and regeneration of the nervous system.

To sum up, Thorne Zinc Bisglycinate ensures high bioavailability of zinc in each capsule thanks to the TRAACS® technology. The element performs numerous functions in the body – e.g. it supports the functioning of the immune and nervous system and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
