You have got questions about the product

  • Enhances the action of anabolic hormones
  • Allows the improvement of sports performance
  • Facilitates the growth of lean body mass
  • Improves the adaptation to strength training
  • Reduces the catabolism of muscle tissue
  • Supports post-workout regeneration

Activlab HMB 1250 is a dietary supplement in capsules containing 3-hydroxy-3-methyl butyric acid (HMB). The preparation is a perfect complement to the supplementary protocol of each person or athlete who wants to improve the results in the discipline practiced.

HMB is a leucine metabolite
The addition of leucine into the diet combined with resistance training may allow the increase of lean body mass. What's more, it seems that leucine reduces soreness in skeletal muscles and prevents the loss of their strength after an intense physical workout. It is believed that this amino acid increases the adaptation to strength training acting as the main signal for the activation of protein synthesis. It is considered very probable that these effects partly dependent on the conversion of leucine to a particular metabolite. HMB seems to be second to none.

As a curiosity, it is worth adding that in order to obtain 3g of HMB, which is a typical dose used in supplementation or during human studies, an athlete would have to provide with the diet over 600g of high-quality protein or 60g of leucine. Since the intake of this amount of protein is impractical, HMB is usually complemented by dietary supplementation.

Benefits of HMB supplementation
Studies show that HMB supplementation reduces muscle proteolysis after resistance training, increases lean body mass and muscle strength, and improves regeneration in a dose-dependent manner. It is believed that taking HMB brings the greatest benefits to the group of non-experienced individuals practicing high-intensity training. In addition to accelerating the rate of regeneration, HMB may help athletes to prevent loss of lean body mass in catabolic situations such as caloric restriction. Admission of HMB may also be beneficial to improve body composition and physical fitness in professional athletes as well as the elderly people. It is worth adding that 3-hydroxy-3-methyl butyric acid may also improve aerobic capacity, although research in this matter is limited.

Post-workout regeneration
Researchers used a variety of indicators to study the effect of HMB supplementation on post-exercise muscle recovery, including skeletal muscle damage indicators such as creatine kinase [CK] and lactate dehydrogenase [LDH], and urine protein degradation rates. To make the results more reliable, recovery and skeletal muscle pain were also observed without HMB supplementation. It has been proven that HMB supplementation works by accelerating the regenerative capacity of skeletal muscles after intensive or prolonged exercise.

Synthesis of muscle proteins
It has been shown that the intake of HMB stimulates protein synthesis in skeletal muscle. It is believed that this takes place by stimulating the mTOR pathway, which plays a central role in controlling cell growth, primarily by affecting the efficiency of mRNA translation. In addition, 3-hydroxy-3-methyl butyric acid may affect the activity of protein synthesis by altering the activity of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), which are one of the major anabolic factors. Moreover, HMB has been shown to affect satellite cells in skeletal muscle by a direct effect on the proliferation and differentiation of myoblasts resulting in a significant increase in the number of cells.

In summary, Activlab HMB 1250 is a dietary supplement that has a wide range of applications. The product will appeal to lovers of many sport disciplines, not only those related to strength training. The preparation is perfect in both periods of building muscle mass and strength, as well as during weight loss, where it prevents the breakdown of muscle tissue during significant caloric restrictions.

Ca-HMB is in liquid form and is a combination of calcium and beta-hydroxy-beta-methyl butyrate in a single molecule, resulting in a neutralized acidic. Benefits of calcium are discussed under the entry: calcium. HMB is a derivative of leucine synthesized within the body. Its source may be also plant foods (grapefruit, alfalfa (lucerne)) and some fish species. The substance has a low anti-catabolic and anabolic potential, helpful for people starting an increased physical activity, it may also contribute to the reduction of body fat. It is a component of anti-catabolic supplements, creatine stacks and amino acid as well as mono-preparation supplements.
Dosage: should not exceed 6 grams per day.

HMB - beta-hydroxy-beta-methyl acid, a fat derivative of leucine (endogenous amino acid) synthesized from leucine in the human body. In its natural form (unfortunately in small quantities) is available in grapefruit, alfalfa and meat of some fish. Information about special anabolic and anti-catabolic action appears to be greatly exaggerated. However, it is recommended to use HMB by untrained persons who take an physical activity, in order to ensure adaptation to exercise and protect muscle tissue during exercise exceeding the general standard. In the sports supplementation is used rarely (due to not fully confirmed action in reducing the body fat, anabolic and anti-catabolic properties).
Dosage: 3-5 g per day
